East Anglia Bishop Peter Collins, 65, has forbidden the celebration of Mass at the Walsingham Shrine, the most important place of pilgrimage in England. The information was published by Robert Nugent (Decrevi Channel), who refers to an e-mail received from pilgrimage@walsingham.org.uk. Collins was appointed by Francis to East Anglia in October 2022. The question now is whether the Latin Mass Society Pilgrimage in August, which Collins has allowed, will still take place.

@Actually A Catholic I am with you. Isn't that what Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre believed? Where there is unity there is strength. Not my quote but a great one nonetheless.

It is way past time that all of us that support the ANCIENT MASS pulled together.
They. are. picking. us. off. one. by. one.
And we ALL are FAILING to SEE that it is happening to ALL OF US.
We are ALL in the same boat. They are coming for ALL OF US.
Our priests, sadly are NOT going to step up.
It will HAVE to be our LAY MEN.
We have to pull together.More

Unfortunately the FSSP, ICKSP, Ecclesia Dei, etc. refuse to even acknowledge the FSSPX. Treat us like dirt. The former won't do much, since their agreement with Rome includes an ultramontanist stance that will obey if Rome decides to tell them to stop saying TLM.
DrMaria
Tina, or anyone else, could you say more about this -- is it only the FSSPX that is blocked at Walsingham or is it all celebrations of the TLM? Also, I agree -- the Ecclesia Dei communities need to realize that if it were not for the courageous stand of Msgr Lefebvre and the founding of the SSPX, they would not exist. They owe their very existence to Msgr Lefebvre and the faithfulness of their FSSPX …More

@DrMaria From what I have read, all celebrations of the TLM have been banned at Walsingham. The SSPX have never been allowed to use the Shrine chapels, but now even the Ecclesia Dei communities, individual priests etc are being stopped.

Thanks -- glad to have this info!

Another wolf in sheep's clothing! Ban the Novus Ordo!

It will be a glorious day when that happens..I hope I live to see it!

Let me see, my humble, and clearly uninformed, take on the Gospel is that we should be encouraging more celebrations of the Mass, not forbidding it. I must have missed something.... No wonder we have a generation of 'Catholics' who are more diligent in their regular attendance at the local cafe for their lattes than they are about attending Mass for the Eternal Meal of all meals.

They should continue the pilgrimage, and find a field or someone who lives near the shrine to open their house or property, set up an altar and have the mass. As Mr. Nugent said, "this is the mass the English martyrs died for."

@philosopher The only other place large enough is the outdoor Abbey Grounds. This is the site of the original medieval shrine. It is privately owned so the bishop has no jurisdiction over it. So if the Latin Mass Society pilgrimage is stopped, that is the only other place they could use in future. The SSPX already use it for their pilgrimages to Walsingham. So if the Latin Mass Society pilgrimage is stopped, that is the only other place they could use in future. The SSPX already use it for their pilgrimages to Walsingham. I suspect, however, that the Latin Mass Society pilgrimage will go ahead this year, as the whole thing (including accommodation in Walsingham etc) was booked well before the bishop's ban - but it could well be the last year they are allowed to use the Shrine chapels.

@English Catholic Thanks for the update! Nice to see that the Abbey grounds are in safe private hands and the owners are supportive of Catholic tradition. May God bless these people!

@philosopher I'm not even sure if the landowners of the Walsingham Abbey Grounds are Catholic - the Abbey Grounds are hired out for a variety of events, I think. But it is providential that it is private property and out of the reach of the bishop. Walsingham Abbey – Walsingham Abbey Grounds, Shirehall Museum, medieval Priory ruins and place of pilgrimage

Pope Francis and his HOMOS are at it again.

Robert P Hartley
There is no need for schism. The Catholic Church, by creating the Novus Ordo Mass and changing all of the other sacraments, has created a new rite, the “Novus Ordo” rite. The Church currently has 24 different rites and the Latin rite is the largest. It is time for the Church to recognize the Latin rite as a separate rite from the Novus Ordo and allow fully separate Ecclesial organization to include …More

It is time for the Church to recognize the Latin rite as a separate rite from the Novus Ordo and allow fully separate Ecclesial organization to include all of the Ecclesia Dei communities as well as the SSPX. This is what the Catholic Church has always done when there is a disparity of rites but no schism or heresy is the cause of the differences.

@Robert P Hartley -Not a good idea, because that would mean being subject to the homo club of Pope Francis and his Vatican...subject to their whims. Schism is better....the true Catholic Church would be independent of the corruption and rot of Rome.

Watch the news tonight, and see the sacrilege and defilement the Basilica of St. Peter's was subject to today........it is reflective of the filth of Pope Francis. No good and faithul Catholics would want to beg/plead/implore that traditional Catholicism be made another "rite" of the Catholic Church. That would be demeaning ourselves, and also acknowledging the legitimacy of the Novus Ordo Church and Papacy.
Nothing short of a total rejection of the Novus ordo Church, and a cleansing of the Church of the filth of Pope Francis and his people (homos all), would be sufficient.
He is no "holy father", no "Supreme Pontiff", and he rejected himself the title "Vicar of Christ".
He and his Vatican are owed nothing except a total rejection by the Catholic faithful.
The naked guy who stood on top of the Papal altar today at St. Peters, is a sign of the evil of the Pope Francis Church.
Maybe it was Jesus trying to give faithful Catholics a sign by the sacriledge, to rise up finally against Pope Francis and his Vatican....to cleanse house and elect a Catholic Pope.
