Jim Caviezel Replaced by Pro-Homosexual Actor in Mel Gibson’s 'Resurrection'

Devout Catholic Jim Caviezel, 57, who famously played Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson's 2004 film The Passion of the Christ, will not be reprising the role in the sequel. It is entitled The Resurrection of the Christ and planned to be released in two parts: the first on Good Friday, 26 March 2027, and the second on Ascension Day, 6 May 2027.
The excuse given is the time gap since the original film was released. It is allegedly too costly and complicated to digitally correct Caviezel's age.
Did Mel Gibson pick the wrong guy?
The Finnish actor Jaakko Ohtonen, aged 36, has been chosen to play Christ. He has appeared in the Netflix series The Last Kingdom.
However, critics have noted that Ohtonen has 'pronouns' in his social media bio and has never mentioned any faith.
In a June 2019 Instagram post, the young actor wore a rainbow-themed T-shirt and wished those participating in gay pride parades and similar events “a weekend filled with love! Love belongs to everyone!"

All you have to do is look up the parents guide on IMDB for both of the actors, they both do plenty of nudity & sex scenes. I won't be watching.

Couldn’t find anything on the internet about this.

Instaurare Omnia in Christo It looks that she (Kasia S.) is pro-choice/pro-abortion.
Perplexity Sonar Pro Reasoning (other AIs say the same thing about her activism):
## Kasia Smutniak’s Pro-Abortion Stance: Facts and Documentation
**Kasia Smutniak** has publicly and consistently supported abortion rights, especially in the context of Poland, which has some of Europe’s most restrictive abortion laws. Her views are not rumors but are well-documented through her public statements, social media activity, and news reports.
### Key Evidence and Timeline - **Poland’s Constitutional Court Ruling (October 2020):** After Poland’s Constitutional Court declared abortion illegal in cases of severe fetal abnormalities, Smutniak spoke out in favor of abortion rights. This included participation in public discussions and a YouTube video titled “Kasia Smutniak defends the right to abortion in Poland” where she elaborated on her position[1]. - **Social Media Advocacy (September 2022):** Smutniak posted a message on Instagram clarifying her pro-rights position, reportedly stating, “I support women’s right to decide over their bodies and lives”[5]. Though the precise wording is paraphrased in some sources, this aligns with her broader public advocacy. - **Ongoing Activism:** According to Polish media and international outlets, Smutniak is recognized as a celebrity advocate for women’s rights, criticizing Poland’s restrictive abortion laws and supporting the feminist movement Strajk Kobiet (“Women’s Strike”), which campaigns to liberalize abortion legislation[2]. - **2025 Reference:** As recently as October 20, 2025, Visegrád 24 and other outlets described her as an “outspoken supporter of abortion,” reaffirming her stance amid controversy over her casting in *The Resurrection of the Christ*[1].
### Context and Backlash - **Casting Controversy:** Smutniak’s public advocacy has led to backlash from conservative and far-right groups in Poland, including efforts to petition Mel Gibson’s production over her suitability for the role of the Virgin Mary[2]. These groups have referenced her statements and activism explicitly. - **Media and Public Response:** Polish and international media consistently refer to her as a vocal proponent of abortion rights, with no credible sources disputing her public stance[2].
### Summary Table | Date/Event | Smutniak’s Action/Statement | Source/Documentation | |---------------------------------------|----------------------------------------------|-------------------------------------|
| Oct 2020 (Poland Court Ruling) | Spoke out publicly, defended abortion rights | YouTube video, news reports[1] |
| Sep 2022 | Posted pro-abortion rights message on IG | Media paraphrasing, direct advocacy[5] |
| 2023–2025 | Ongoing advocacy, media references | News, Wikipedia, social media[1][2] |
## Conclusion **Kasia Smutniak’s pro-abortion stance is a matter of public record, not speculation.** She has repeatedly and openly supported abortion rights, particularly in response to political developments in Poland. There is no evidence to suggest her position is fabricated or exaggerated; it is substantiated by her own statements, social media posts, and credible news reports[1][2][5].

I can not watch a woman replacing The Mother of GOD who is for abortion of all sick things in the world. Mel has lost it. This will not go well for him.
I looked forward to this movie for so long. I was afraid he would get carried away and add weird things to it as he did In The Passion of The Christ. When the crow pecked the eye from the bad thief. That was my only concern.
Thank you once again for all your help. I am glad you posted those things. We need to know the truth. I won't watch the movie. I hope he doesn't complete the movie and everything goes wrong with it. This is extremely troubling.

Instaurare Omnia in Christo Info (hopefully true) about Kasia Smutniak /Polish/Italian actress/ that will play Virgin Mary in "Resurrection." I am not sure about that abortion business, perhaps I'll ask another question to be 'sure.'
Second opinion from Grok 4:
Below is a comprehensive overview of Kasia Smutniak (full name: Katarzyna Anna Smutniak), the Polish-Italian actress rumored to be playing the Virgin Mary in Mel Gibson's upcoming film *The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection* (often shortened to *Resurrection*). I'll base this on publicly available and verifiable information from reliable sources like IMDb, interviews in outlets such as *Vogue Italia*, *The Hollywood Reporter*, Italian newspapers (*Corriere della Sera*, *La Repubblica*), and her own social media or public statements. I'll cover her background, career, personal life, activism, and rumors—including those about her casting, relationships, and other aspects. As with any public figure, I'll emphasize facts over speculation, clearly labeling rumors as such and providing context or evidence where possible. Note that rumors are often unsubstantiated and can stem from online gossip, fan forums, or media hype; I'll focus on those with some public traction but won't endorse them without proof. Sexual orientation wasn't explicitly mentioned in your query (unlike previous ones), but since the conversation thread has touched on it, I'll include a brief, evidence-based note: Based on her documented relationships and public life, Smutniak identifies as heterosexual. There are no credible rumors or evidence suggesting otherwise, and she's never publicly discussed her sexuality in detail. Keep in mind that *The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection* is still in pre-production as of my last knowledge update in 2023, with no official release date. Casting details, including Smutniak's involvement, remain speculative and unconfirmed by Gibson or the studio. If there have been updates since then, check recent sources like *Deadline* or *Variety* for the latest.
### Background and Early Life - **Birth and Origins**: Born on August 13, 1979, in Piła, Poland (a small town near Poznań), Smutniak grew up in a modest family. Her father was a Polish Air Force general, and her mother was a nurse. She has spoken in interviews (e.g., a 2018 *Vanity Fair Italia* profile) about her disciplined upbringing, including learning to fly gliders as a teenager, which sparked her interest in adventure sports. - **Move to Italy and Modeling Start**: At age 15, she won a modeling contest in Poland and moved to Italy in the late 1990s to pursue opportunities. She became a successful model, appearing in campaigns for brands like Giorgio Armani, Tim (Italian telecom), and Dolce & Gabbana. This transitioned her into acting; she studied at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. - **Citizenship and Identity**: Smutniak holds dual Polish-Italian citizenship and is fluent in Polish, Italian, English, and Russian. She's often described as a "bridge" between Eastern European and Western cultures, which she embraces in her work.
### Career Highlights Smutniak has built a diverse career in film, TV, and theater, primarily in Italy but with international reach. She's known for her elegant, intense screen presence and has worked with acclaimed directors like Paolo Sorrentino and Ferzan Özpetek. Key milestones: - **Breakthrough Roles**: Debuted in Italian TV miniseries like *Questa è la mia terra* (2006). Gained wider notice in *From Paris with Love* (2010), playing opposite John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers as a mysterious woman in a high-octane action thriller. -
**Notable Films**: - *Perfect Strangers* (2016, dir. Paolo Genovese): Played Eva, a complex wife in this ensemble drama about secrets revealed during a dinner party. The film was a box-office hit and remade in multiple countries (including the U.S. as *The Dinner Party*). - *Loro* (2018, dir. Paolo Sorrentino): Portrayed Kira, a fictionalized character inspired by figures in Silvio Berlusconi's circle. Critics praised her nuanced performance; the film premiered at Cannes. - *Dolittle* (2020): Had a supporting role in this Robert Downey Jr.-led family adventure, marking one of her bigger Hollywood outings. - Recent/Upcoming: Starred in *Domina* (2021–2023), a Sky Atlantic series about Livia Drusilla (wife of Emperor Augustus), earning acclaim for her portrayal of a powerful historical figure. She's also in Italian films like *3/19* (2021) and has theater credits in productions like *The Glass Menagerie*. - **Awards and Recognition**: Nominated for David di Donatello Awards (Italy's Oscars) multiple times, including for *Perfect Strangers*. Won the Nastro d'Argento (Silver Ribbon) for Best Actress in 2013 for *Welcome Mr. President*. She's considered one of Italy's top actresses, often compared to Monica Bellucci for her beauty and versatility. - **Style and Public Image**: Frequently featured in fashion magazines (*Vogue*, *Elle*), she's known for her minimalist, sophisticated style. She's also a brand ambassador for luxury labels and has modeled for humanitarian campaigns.
### Personal Life Smutniak is relatively private but has shared glimpses through interviews and her Instagram (@lasmutniak, with over 500k followers), where she posts about family, travel, and causes. - **Relationships and Family**: - **Pietro Taricone**: From 2003 to 2010, she was in a high-profile relationship with Italian actor and reality TV star Pietro Taricone (from *Big Brother Italy*). They had a daughter, Sophie (born September 4, 2004). Taricone died tragically in a parachuting accident in June 2010 at age 35. Smutniak has spoken movingly about the loss in interviews (e.g., a 2011 *Corriere della Sera* piece), describing it as a turning point that strengthened her resilience. - **Domenico Procacci**: Since 2011, she's been with Italian film producer Domenico Procacci (founder of Fandango). They married in a private ceremony in 2019 in the Italian countryside. They have a son, Leone (born August 20, 2014). Smutniak often credits Procacci for support during her career highs and lows; they've collaborated professionally (e.g., on *Perfect Strangers*, which he produced). - **Lifestyle and Interests**: Lives in Rome and Umbria, Italy. She's an avid adventurer—parachuting, climbing (she summited Kilimanjaro in 2019 for charity), and yoga. She's vegetarian and promotes sustainable living.
### Activism and Philanthropy - **Pietro Taricone Foundation**: Founded in 2011 to honor her late partner, it supports education and healthcare in Nepal (where she built a school in Mustang). She's climbed mountains and fundraised extensively, documented in her 2020 book *Con i Piedi per Terra* (With Feet on the Ground), a memoir blending travel and activism. - **Other Causes**: Advocates for refugees (worked with UNHCR), women's rights, and environmental issues. In 2022, she spoke out against the Ukraine invasion, drawing on her Polish roots. She's criticized for being "too political" by some Italian conservatives, but praised by progressives.
### Rumors About Kasia Smutniak Rumors about Smutniak are relatively tame compared to other celebrities, often fueled by her beauty, high-profile relationships, and international career. They circulate on sites like Reddit, gossip forums (e.g., DataLounge), Italian tabloids (*Chi*, *Gossip.it*), and social media. I'll list the main ones with context, evidence (or lack thereof), and why they might persist. Remember, these are unverified and should be taken with skepticism—Smutniak has occasionally addressed gossip indirectly, emphasizing privacy. 1. **Casting as Virgin Mary in Mel Gibson's *Resurrection***: - **The Rumor**: Since around 2021, reports (e.g., from *We Got This Covered* and Italian outlets like *Dagospia*) have claimed Smutniak is cast as the Virgin Mary, replacing Maia Morgenstern from the 2004 original. This ties into Gibson's vision for a sequel exploring the Resurrection and early Christianity. Some speculate her Catholic background (she's practicing) and ethereal looks make her a fit. - **Evidence/Context**: No official confirmation from Gibson, Smutniak, or studios (as of 2023). Gibson mentioned in a 2022 interview with *Breitbart* that casting was ongoing, with Jim Caviezel returning as Jesus. Smutniak hasn't commented, but her agency hasn't denied it. This could be hype to generate buzz; similar rumors swirled about other actresses like Monica Bellucci. - **Why It Persists**: Her role in historical/religious projects (*Domina*) and Italian connections (Gibson has ties to Italy) fuel it. If true, it would be a major Hollywood break. 2. **Sexuality and Relationship Rumors**: - **The Rumor**: Minor online speculation (mostly in English forums) suggests Smutniak might be bisexual, based on her "intense" on-screen chemistry with women (e.g., in *Loro*) or friendships in Italy's LGBTQ+ community. Some tie this to her progressive activism. - **Evidence/Context**: No proof whatsoever. Her documented long-term heterosexual relationships (with Taricone and Procacci) and family life contradict this. She's never addressed it publicly, and no scandals or insider accounts exist. In a 2016 *Grazia* interview, she spoke of love in general terms but framed it heteronormatively. - **Why It Persists**: Stereotypes about models/actresses and misreadings of her private nature. It's low-level gossip without traction in mainstream media. 3. **Plastic Surgery and Appearance Rumors**: - **The Rumor**: Tabloids claim she's had extensive work (e.g., nose job, fillers) to maintain her looks, especially post-motherhood. - **Evidence/Context**: Smutniak has denied this in interviews (e.g., 2020 *Io Donna*), attributing her appearance to genetics, yoga, and a healthy lifestyle. Before-and-after photos online are often doctored or misleading. Experts (e.g., in *Allure* analyses) note natural aging. - **Why It Persists**: Common for female celebrities over 40 in the beauty-obsessed industry. 4. **Relationship Drama Rumors**: - **The Rumor**: After Taricone's death, some gossip suggested she "moved on too quickly" with Procacci or had affairs during her modeling days. There are whispers of tension in her marriage due to busy schedules. - **Evidence/Context**: Unsubstantiated. Smutniak has spoken openly about grieving Taricone (e.g., in her book) and describes her relationship with Procacci as stable. Public appearances show them affectionate; no divorce rumors or paparazzi scandals. - **Why It Persists**: High-profile widowhood invites scrutiny, amplified by Italian media's love for romantic intrigue. 5. **Career and Political Rumors**: - **The Rumor**: She's "blacklisted" in Hollywood for being "too European" or outspoken (e.g., criticizing Berlusconi in *Loro*). Some say she's turned down roles for political reasons. - **Evidence/Context**: No evidence; she's continued working internationally (*Dolittle*, *Domina*). In a 2021 *The Guardian* interview, she said she chooses roles based on quality, not politics. - **Why It Persists**: Her activism and selective career choices spark speculation. In summary, Kasia Smutniak is a multifaceted talent—actress, model, activist, and mother—with a career spanning over two decades. Her potential role in Gibson's *Resurrection* could elevate her profile further, but it's still rumor-stage. While gossip exists, it's mostly benign and unsupported by facts; she comes across as grounded and focused on her work and family. For the most current info, I recommend her Instagram, official interviews, or entertainment news sites. If you have a specific aspect or source you'd like me to expand on, let me know!

Practicing Catholic. But into women's health and rights. Let's hope it has nothing to do with abortion. And hope she is more traditional than modern.
Thank you for all the info you gathered on both people replacing the originals.
Gossiping is so dangerous and yet it is getting more and more common everyday with everyone.
So when you come down to it, it's safe to see the new movie. I would have been very disappointed if the rumors were true. That's why I always wait and see instead of jumping to conclusions or listening to anyone.
Thanks again for your help @In Principio

Instaurare Omnia in Christo Info (hopefully true) about Kasia Smutniak /Polish/Italian actress/ that will play Virgin Mary in "Resurrection."
Two opinions.
First: Perplexity Sonar Pro Reasoning:
## Overview **Kasia Smutniak** is a Polish-Italian actress who will portray **Mary, the Mother of Jesus** in Mel Gibson’s upcoming biblical drama, **The Resurrection of the Christ: Part One**[1][2]. This film is a sequel to *The Passion of the Christ* (2004) and stars Jaakko Ohtonen as Jesus, with Smutniak among a prominent ensemble cast[1][2].
## Professional Background Smutniak has a diverse career spanning over two decades in European and international cinema. She is known for roles in films like *Perfect Day* (2011) and *Eat Pray Love* (2010), and has appeared in Italian and Polish productions, as well as international projects.
## Recent Controversy While Smutniak’s professional credentials are robust, her casting as the Virgin Mary has generated controversy. Several sources report that Smutniak is a **pro-abortion activist**[3]. According to FandomPulse, her public support for abortion rights has led to criticism from some quarters—particularly those who view the role of Mary as a religious and cultural icon requiring a certain degree of personal alignment with traditional Catholic values[3]. The reaction has highlighted clashes between artistic freedom and religious expectations regarding the casting of sacred figures in Hollywood films[3].
## Rumors and Public Debate There is no credible evidence or widespread reporting of other personal rumors related to Smutniak. The existing backlash centers primarily on her political activism regarding abortion, rather than her private life or other unverified claims[3]. The controversy appears to stem from perceptions of authenticity and suitability for the role, rather than rumors about her character or personal conduct outside of her activism.
## In Summary - **Role:** Kasia Smutniak will play Mary, the Mother of Jesus, in Mel Gibson’s *The Resurrection of the Christ: Part One*[1][2]. - **Background:** She is an established actress with a strong European profile. - **Controversy:** Her public, pro-abortion stance has led to criticism of her casting in the film, with some audiences questioning the compatibility of her views with the traditional portrayal of the Virgin Mary[3]. -
**Rumors:** No other significant or substantiated rumors about her personal life or character have been widely reported in connection with this film. As with many high-profile castings, controversies often emerge from the intersection of public figures’ political or social views and the roles they are tapped to play, especially in religiously charged productions[3]. In Smutniak’s case, this has been the central issue in the public discourse surrounding her casting.

Instaurare Omnia in Christo Now the situation about Finnish Actor, Jaakko Ohtonen who will play Jesus in Mel Gibson's movie. This is according to Grok 4 which is center-oriented in comparison to other AI's such as ChatGPT.
General Background on Jaakko Ohtonen
Bio and Career
: Born on March 15, 1987, in Helsinki, Finland, Ohtonen trained at the Theatre Academy Helsinki (Teatterikorkeakoulu). He began his career in theater before transitioning to screen roles. He's praised for his intense, naturalistic performances, often in gritty or dramatic genres. In interviews (e.g., with Finnish magazine Seura in 2018), he's discussed his passion for acting as a way to explore human emotions and history. He's also involved in environmental causes and has spoken about Finland's cultural identity in Nordic media.
Personal Life: Ohtonen keeps a low profile, focusing more on his work than public persona. He's active on social media (Instagram: @jaakkoohtonen), where he shares glimpses of travel, nature, and professional updates, but rarely personal details.
Rumors About Him, Including Sexuality
Rumors about celebrities like Ohtonen often circulate online (e.g., on forums like Reddit, Twitter, or Finnish gossip sites), but they are typically unsubstantiated and stem from speculation rather than evidence. I'll outline the main ones I've come across in public discourse, emphasizing that these are rumors without credible proof, and I'll counter them with verifiable facts where possible. Sexual orientation is a personal matter, and Ohtonen has not publicly discussed his in detail, which is his right. Based on available evidence, he appears to be heterosexual.
Sexuality Rumors
The Rumor
: There have been occasional online whispers (mostly in English-speaking forums or fan discussions around Deadwind) suggesting Ohtonen might be gay or bisexual. These often arise from his private nature, his roles in intense male-centric stories (e.g., military or detective characters), or misinterpretations of his androgynous look in some photoshoots. Some tie this to broader stereotypes about actors in Nordic countries, where LGBTQ+ visibility is high.
Evidence and Facts (Not Just Rumors):
Heterosexual Relationships: Public records and interviews indicate Ohtonen has been in heterosexual relationships. He was previously in a long-term relationship with Finnish actress and model Mimosa Willamo (known for Deadwind and other projects), which was reported in Finnish media around 2018–2020. They appeared together at events like the Jussi Awards (Finland's equivalent of the Oscars) and were photographed as a couple. Ohtonen has spoken positively about relationships in general interviews (e.g., a 2021 Helsingin Sanomat piece where he mentioned valuing emotional connections), but without specifying details.
No Public Coming Out or Confirmation: Ohtonen has never identified as LGBTQ+ in any interview or statement. In a 2020 interview with Yle (Finland's public broadcaster), he discussed diversity in Finnish media but focused on professional representation rather than his personal life. There's no evidence from reliable sources (e.g., major outlets like Variety, The Guardian, or Finnish papers) of same-sex relationships, scandals, or confirmations.
Why Rumors Persist: Finland has a progressive culture with strong LGBTQ+ rights, so speculation can sometimes fill in gaps when someone is private. However, assuming orientation based on appearance or roles is unreliable and often rooted in bias. No lawsuits, memoirs, or insider accounts support these claims.
Debunking/Context: These rumors are low-level and not widely covered in mainstream media, likely because they're baseless. Ohtonen's focus on privacy (common among Finnish celebrities) might fuel curiosity, but it's not evidence of anything hidden.
Other Rumors
Political or Personal Controversies: There are minor online rumors about Ohtonen being "difficult" on set or involved in environmental activism that some label as "extreme" (e.g., ties to Finnish green movements). These stem from his public support for climate issues, but interviews (e.g., Image magazine, 2019) show him as collaborative and thoughtful, with co-stars like Pihla Viitala praising his professionalism.
Health or Career Rumors: Post-Deadwind, some speculated about him leaving acting for other pursuits (like directing), but he's continued working, including in upcoming projects like potential Deadwind seasons or indie films. No health-related rumors have substantial backing.

In summary, Jaakko Ohtonen is a talented Finnish actor with a growing international profile, but rumors about his sexuality or personal life are largely unsubstantiated internet chatter. If there have been developments since 2023 (e.g., new roles or statements), I recommend checking recent sources like his social media or Finnish news sites for the latest. If you have a specific rumor or source in mind, I can help fact-check it further!

Just more rumors? I hope grok is right. As you know I don't trust any of those things. But if it is true, I am glad to know this. It would so sad if he were into pronouns and such evil stupidity. And Mel would regret it big time. You can count on that.

Can't wait for the movie! There is and will be even more opposition and lies about it. If some pictures are not AI-made we can always pray for the conversion of actors, etc., but I think these 'news' are absolutely false.

I hope not, but petrus100452 said it's all over google. I avoid google if I can help it. If it is true, Mel is making a huge mistake. Bad things this time can happen on the set. And his movie might be a flop. Which if it is true, I hope it will flop.

Google is a leftist machine. I'll try something else, maybe I'll get something...

Thank you.

Instaurare Omnia in Christo I removed the Gemma 3 nonsense.

All these rumors are for destroying Jim Caviezel. I wonder who has an interest in it?

Great! Glad you removed it. I have no idea who is spreading any rumors. But that's what everyone seems to be doing today. They love to gossip and damage the lives of others. It's what people do best now. I hope Jaakko Ohtonen. is not gay. I hope the woman playing Mary is not pro abortion. How sick is that? Did Mel lose his mind or something? If it is true?

Instaurare Omnia in Christo Check the top of the feed - about Finnish actor Jaakko Ohtonen. They say he keeps low profile and is just a normal man.

This is an attempt to discredit Mel Gibson most likely conducted by Zionist Jews, This is fake. Even if the claims are "credible" it is most likely AI at work.

Regardless, both actors do nudity/sex scenes in their films.

Deep fake's gaslighting?!

eva333

Mel Gibson has cast a pro-abortion actress as the Virgin Mary, and a pro-LGBT man as Jesus. Is this normal?

No.

If this info is true, yes, it is normal, and Gibson is no exception. Let us not forget that we are living in times under the influence of satan.

There is nothing on the internet about this claim. Someone may be trying to sabotage Mel Gibson.

I couldn't find anything either. I can't get on instagram to find out much about him. I tried a few ways to find out and nothing! Not even from fake news.
Some said he likes to post a lot about his dog and horses and hiking I believe. He is also married. Let's hope it isn't true. I really was looking forward to seeing this. But if what they say is true, I won't see it.

@salliperson @Instaurare Omnia in Christo Various news outlets are reporting on this. Just Google the name Jaakko Ohtonen.

@petrus100452 Thank you i use yahoo. Sometimes Yandex. I couldn't find it anywhere. They say it's on instagram but I can't see it. I hope it's not true. This will not be good.

pmfji

I've lost all interest in this project, all of a sudden..... shame. I'd be so looking forward to seeing it.

@pmfji I feel the same...

Don't lose interest totally till we actually get proof. So far some of us can't find it to be true. He posts on instagram but I am not signed up for it. Some are saying he likes to post a lot about his dog and horse and I think hiking. He is also married. Wait and see if it's true.

This sounds so unlike Mel Gibson. Maybe after they burned his house down he started to get scared. Plus, he has a young son, who may have been terribly traumatized by the actions of the powers that shouldn't be who don't want us to know how Jesus suffered at the hands of the J,
