Mexican Bishop "Had Smiled" About his Predecessor's Concelebrating with Anglican Woman
In denial, he repeatedly told ElHeraldoDeSaltillo.mx: “It is not sacrilege, it is a lack of discipline, a disciplinary offence. It is not sacrilege, for God's sake, I was not going to commit sacrilege!”
He admitted that he had invited the Anglican woman on his own initiative.
Furthermore, Bishop Vera revealed that his successor, Bishop Hilario González, had asked him to explain what had happened.
For Monsignor González “the problem was that the celebration had been broadcast on Facebook”.
Bishop Vera explains: “I'm sure the bishop was inundated with calls, which is why he spoke to me."
The bishops ended up talking like friends and "smiling at each other." The meeting was cordial: “It's not that he laughed, but I already told him the context is this,” Monsignor Vera recounted.
Finally, he mentioned that eight years ago, when he was still active diocesan bishop, he had already concelebrated with Madame Smith and “nothing happened”.
