Goa Archdiocese Defend "Catholic" Priests Who Worship Elephant Idol

During the August 31-September 9 Ganesh Chaturthi Festival, several priests took parishioners to Ganesha shrines and visited private altars in homes.
Goa Archdiocese and social media published pictures of priests praying in front of the idol Ganesha.
After online backlash, Goa Archdiocese (ArchGoaDaman.com, September 9) defended its pagan priests. An article written by Father Onasis D'Cruzon proclaimed with a flood of words "harmony," "peaceful co-existence" and "bonds of friendship" while brutally attacking Catholics for a “smack of fanaticism and divisiveness.”
D'Cruzon openly defended the idol worship, “When we look at the priest praying in the picture the focus is not on who he is praying to but who he is praying for.”
