Francis “Satisfied” With China Deal

“I am satisfied with the agreement with China, slowly there are results,” Francis said in a recent Reuters interview.

"The one who carries out this agreement," Francis said, "is Cardinal Parolin who is the best diplomat in the Holy See, a man of high diplomatic standing.”

Francis praised Parolin in the highest tones, “He knows how to move, he is a man of dialogue, and he dialogues with the Chinese authorities.”

"It is going slowly,” Francis said about the appointment of bishops. He called this “the Chinese way, because the Chinese have that sense of time that nobody rushes them."

He stressed that there are different attitudes according to local authorities in China, “But the agreement is good, and I hope it can be renewed in October.”

The agreement simply hands over the appointment of bishops to the atheist state.

@michael newman Clutching at straws Michael. What might have happened 1200 years ago is only of interest to Historians. You wrote: "Your confusion that there are two men wearing Papal attire in the Vatican is not a serious concern for most people." REALLY!

According to your reasoning, what happened 2000 years ago in history, with Our Lord’s birth is ONLY of use to historians….how wrong can that statement be?
And if two men in papal attire is a claim for the illegitimacy of Pope Francis, then you’re clutching at straws…really.More

Weak reply and off topic. The subject matter deals with 'real world events' and not a history lesson. Diversionary tactics and personal innuendo's only serve to destroy one's credibility.
Farewell.

If you say so

@michael newman How on earth can you justify your conclusion when there are two identical contenders; each wearing a white zucchetta and white cassock? Besides, any conclave to elect a new pope can only be legitimate following the death of a validly elected and reigning sovereign pontiff. 'By their fruits ye shall know them'. I rest my case.

@LiveJohn Death of a Pope is NOT a requirement to elect a successor never has been.
BXVI wasn’t the first Pope to abdicate. Here’s a list of reliable abdications.
Gregory XII (4 July 1415 to end the western schism)
Pope St Celestine (13 December 1294)
Gregory VI (20 December 1046)
Benedict IX (was Pope three times and the final abdication was in July 1048)
Benedict V (23 June 964 deposed by …More

And there were several others who were forced to renounce the Papacy, killed or sent to exile.

BXVI legitimately resigned, and a conclave elected Francis who is the current Pope. BXVI chose to be called a Pope Emeritus. Your confusion that there are two men wearing Papal attire in the Vatican is not a serious concern for most people.

Francis hopes the Vatican’s provisional agreement with China will be renewed, and believes it is the right choice in the long run (second part of an interview with Reuters)

How those poor Catholic martyrs of the underground Catholic Church must feel after such a cruel betrayal by the Church they suffer and die for.

O, and we hope to renew the financial rewards, because they are OK, too.

Francis says he hopes to renew Vatican deal with China - not enough casualties yet?
