The coronavirus mortality rate in Italy – indicated as 7.3% (1,809) - is grossly misleading, Breitbart.com (March 16) writes. The reasons:
• 80% of infections are mild or asymptomatic and therefore undiagnosed, while the mortality rate is calculated based on the cases who are known because they showed complications.
• Just 0.2% of the Italian population was tested for the disease. Most infections are unknown, therefore, compared to the effective infections, the mortality rate is much lower.
• Italy has worldwide the second oldest population after Japan. Elderly people are much more vulnerable to the virus.

70,000 died in the European Heatwave of 2003 - mostly the poor, the sick, and the elderly told by their governments to remain out of the noonday in their unventilated flats, lacking either fans or air conditioning. They stayed. They died. This historical perspective goes unmentioned by the 'self-isolate' media hysterics today.
