The Parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector [Lk 18:9-14 (RSVCE)]

He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others:

Child of Our Lady
You're cherry picking scripture. They didn't pray to God saying they were happy He made them better than everyone else. They are professing a belief in the Real Presence that can only be displayed in the action of receiving Our Blessed Lord reverently as actions speak louder than words. Less particles fall off the host that way & less chance of someone palming the Eucharist to profane Our Lord.

"The same will happen with Holy Communion. Alas! How deeply I grieve upon manifesting to you the many and horrible sacrileges - both public and also secret - that will occur from profanations of the Holy Eucharist! Often during this epoch, the enemies of Jesus Christ, instigated by the Devil, will steal consecrated Hosts from the churches so that they might profane the Eucharistic Species. My Most Holy Son will see Himself cast upon the ground and trampled upon by irreverent feet." Our Lady of Good Success

It is all about “I”.

At least with the Pharisee, it was actually about commandments of God. The Church hasn’t mandated reception on the tongue only.

Another relevant Scripture is where Jesus rebukes Peter.
