Money, Money, Money: An Ice Cream Parlour in Santa Maria Maggiore

SilereNonPossum.it (August 3) writes about Francis’ failure to handle the problems in Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica which is five kilometres from the Vatican but belongs to Vatican territory.

• Francis made Lithuanian Monsignor Rolandas Makrickas (Secretariat of State) in 2021 the Basilica’s commissioner, getting rid of Archpriest Stanisław Cardinal Ryłko, an early Francis fan.

• Francis uses “commissioners” to circumvent the Vatican's rules.

• An ice-cream parlour was opened in the Basilica’s courtyard because Francis needs money and therefore has stopped his mantras about “a poor Church."

• Tourists can enter the gated courtyard/carpark only through the basilica. The security personnel must explain to them that they cannot re-enter the Basilica with a dripping ice cream, so they must finish it in a small space next to the carpark.

• In violation of Vatican laws, Makrickas entrusted the parlour to the Antica Gelateria al Corso (Nestlé), and he has been looking for its staff, “Why does an entity of the Holy See seek personnel for an external company?”

• Francis’ June 2020 Motu Proprio on “Transparency” in the Vatican's economic activities was not respected because Francis’ laws are not valid for Francis’ friends.

All this constant criticism of this holy humble Francis when all he is doing is making sure the sheep get an ice cream in the hot Italian sunshine. Stop attacking his thoughtfulness and kindness as he is humble and has a small car unlike most of you critics who most likely have bigger cars as you are not as holy or humble as such a kind and thoughtful Francis, who is actually synodal as well.

2. I personally dread whoever the next pope will be. Bergolio has personally selected a majority of those who will be cardinal electors. They will elect someone like him....or worse !

It's a good sign he is a very unpopulr Pope that the Vatican is in desperate need of money. Idiot that he is, what he has done to traditional Catholics and the eprsecution of the Latin Mass/Roman Rite will make his financial situation 100% worse. Idiot that he is, what he has done to traditional Catholics and the eprsecution of the Latin Mass/Roman Rite will make his financial situation 100% worse. Traditional minded Catholics represent very much more Catholics than the morons in the VAtican think, many of the traditional CAtholics are extremely wealthy, and resent both the eprsecution of the Latin Mass, and hate the pontificate of Francis in general. So he's cash strapped and resorting to cheap gimmicks like an ice cream store. Hope the financies get worse for him and his crew.
But I'll bet, that soon when there's a new Pope, and especially if he's traditional...or at least appreciates the Roman Rite and Catholic tradition and fosters it, the money will come flooding into the Vatican in a tidal wave...which will show a complete repudiation of the pontificate of Francis.
