Grant, by his prayers and powerful example, that we may shine forth that same light into the hearts of our brothers and sisters. Through Christ our Lord. Amen." – Collect for the feast of Bl. John of Fiesole (Bl. Fra Angelico) on 18th February. The Dominican friar known as Fra Angelico is the patron saint of artists, confirmed as a 'beatus' by Pope St John Paul II in 1982. This statue of the blessed is in the church of San Marco in Florence, next to the Dominican convent where he lived and painted some of his most well-known frescoes.
