Will the Crusader against Opus Dei Be Named a Cardinal?
Some say that Pérez Pueyo agreed to wrest the Torreciudad shrine from Opus Dei when he was told that in return everything would be done to persuade Francis to give him an important position in Rome, including making him a cardinal.
This manoeuvre involves the Jesuit Cardinal Gianfranco Ghirlanda, a sworn enemy of Opus Dei, together with Cardinal Juan José Omella of Barcelona and his long-time accomplice Monsignor Satué, as well as the religious community of the Diocesan Operators, an institute to which Pérez Pueyo belongs and of which he was General Director.
Pérez Pueyo's decision to take the Torreciudad conflict to Rome is part of the second phase of the plan to destroy Opus Dei.
The Spanish College in Rome is said to be preparing for Monsignor Pérez Pueyo's arrival.
