Francis Promotes Enemy of Mass
Archbishop Philippe Ballot, 65, of Chambéry, France (400,000 Catholics, 100 priests), a lifelong enemy of the Mass, has been promoted to Metz (800,000 Catholics, 300 priests).
He abolished Mass in the cathedral in Chambéry "in the name of the unity of the Church." Now, only two Sunday Masses a month, celebrated by the FSSP, remain.
When the faithful complained about this, Ballot replied that he could have abolished Masses altogether.
During the time of the cancelled masses, the faithful gather to pray the rosary in the garden of the bishop's palace.
