Church or Tavern? Elvis, Whitney Houston and Samba Inside Shrine in Brazil.

Father Celso dos Santos Neto, rector of the Diocesan Sanctuary of Senhor Bom Jesus dos Perdões (The "Good Lord Jesus of Forgiveness"), located in Bom Jesus dos Perdões, Diocese of Bragança Paulista, Brazil, to celebrate the 315th anniversary of this traditional sanctuary, invited a band of professional musicians to play inside the sacred enclosure a repertoire that included, besides gospel and Ave Maria songs, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, sambas and pop.

What could have led this priest, who wears a cassock and celebrates Mass ad orientem with all the liturgical apparatus to perform such an act inside a shrine? How could this separation between sacred and profane have been dissolved in the very bosom of the Church?
