As expected, Francis accepted the resignation of Bishop Valerio Lazzeri of Lugano, Switzerland, (200K Catholics, 180 priests) on October 10.
Lazzeri, who had taken office in 2013, was apparently unable to cope with the financial and moral problems in his diocese.
At a press conference on Monday, he said he had found it difficult to manage the diocese adequately, especially in the last two years.
He said he preferred a secluded life, away from the public limelight.
Lazzeri's episcopal motto is: "Non impedias musicam" - Thou shalt not hinder the music (sic!).

rancis accepted today the resignation of the Bishop of Lugano, Switzerland, Valerio Lazzeri...only 59. Very unusual. Lazzeri says, "especially in the past two years, an internal fatigue has been growing inside me."
