Benedict XVI if he stayed on as Pope, as he should have, would not only be Pope 17 years, which is pretty long for a Pope, but also be the oldest Pope ever at 95. Benedict XVI if he stayed on as Pope, as he should have, would not only be Pope 17 years, which is pretty long for a Pope, but also be the oldest Pope ever at 95. When I think of what he could have done in 9 years since he was a coward and slipped away into retirement and gave the Church a heretic as a replacement, I get very angry with him and the Church. One thing is true he was planning to do, and it a big disappointment for any traditional Catholic that he didn't stay in office, is that he was going to restore the Sedia Gestatoria. Principally because he was having knee issues, but also as a symbol of the papacy. He had already restored the papal vestment called the fanon, not seen since JPII used it 1x in 1981. So many new, traditionalist religious Orders probably would have been founded also, given his support with Summorum Pontificum.
I have two wishes. I wish Pope Benedict XVI had stayed on as Pope......travels are of no importance. JPII did nothing but travel for whatever reason, and it accomplished nothing. Benedict XVI instead could have tackled Church issues and cleaned house. So I wish he had stayed on.
My second wish, and I hope it comes true....is I hope Pope Francis doesn't live to see 95. There'd be nothing left of the Catholic Church if he did!!!!!
