The Ukraine/Russia conflict was, and still is, the result of CIA meddling in the affairs of Ukraine. It is, in reality, a hopeless and unnecessary war which benefits no one, other than those seeking means of 'washing' their ill-begotten gains at the expense of both Ukraine and Russian soldiers and civilians. Further, this American proxy war, does nothing for the country's status, as perceived by other nations of the world. In so far as the KGB removed Gorbachev from office and Russia is now being run by former KGB officer (who was also eyeing Poland), it makes sense that the CIA would be involved.
