Father John Schmitz of Diocese of Jefferson City, a licensed pilot, and Deacon Tom Gerling, of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in House Springs, offered a blessing to parishes of the Archdiocese of St. Louis’ south deanery as they flew with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament from 2,000 feet in the sky.

The plane passed over 12 Catholic churches in the Festus deanery as those on board extend blessings and prayers for protection from the Coronavirus to all residents below.

Jefferson county residents of all faithful denominations were invited to pray during the flight time.

The white and red Cessna Cardinal 177 has the tail number N11828 and embarked from Spirit of St. Louis Airport at 3pm.

Flight schedule is as follows:

3:00 pm: Depart Spirit of St Louis Airport.
3:09 – 3:19 pm Flyover: St Anthony of Padua, High Ridge, Our Lady Queen of Peace, St John, Imperial

3:25 – 3:35 pm Flyover: Immaculate Conception, Arnold, St David, Arnold, St Joseph, Imperial

3:43 – 3:53 pm Flyover: Our Lady, Festus, Sacred Heart, Crystal City

3:58 – 4:08 pm Flyover: Good Shepherd, Hillsboro, St. Rose of Lima, DeSoto

4:15 – 4:25 pm Flyover: St Francis of Assisi, Luebbering, St Stephen, Richwoods

4:52 pm: Return to Spirit of St. Louis Airport
