A future of light Sunday, December 1st 2019 First of Advent Dear brothers and sisters, the liturgy of the first Sunday of Advent, which we will celebrate next December 1st, centered on the vision of the future of peace among all peoples, in a world completely renewed and transformed by the Spirit of God, fruit of the Redemption made from the coming of Jesus, Son of God, King of the Universe and Prince of Peace, immediately made me think of the appeal for peace that Pope Francis, a few days ago, launched to the whole world, from Japan, on the night of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is not on the fear of destruction and mutual annihilation that international peace and stability can be built, the Pope said, but on mutual trust between individuals, peoples and nations nourished by dialogue, solidarity and cooperation. In this world of ours, the Pope continued, "where millions of children and families live in inhuman conditions, the money spent and the fortunes earned to manufacture, modernize, maintain and sell weapons, more and more destructive, are a constant attack that cries out to heaven. " Dear brothers and sisters, let us invoke the grace of the Holy Spirit because the invitation made by Pope Francis to all, Catholics and non-Catholics, to trust in God and make real in our lives the prayer of St. Francis for peace, find in us, in this time of Advent in which we commit ourselves in preparing our hearts for the coming of Jesus who we'll celebrate in the mystery of Holy Christmas, a full, active and joyful acceptance.
