Last Tsar: Ten Thousands on Pilgrimage

Tens of thousands of people participated in a mid-July 20-kilometre religious night march in memory of Tsar Nicholas II and his family. They were murdered by the Bolsheviks in the night of 16/17 July 1918.

The procession goes from Ekaterinburg to the Ganina Iama Monastery. Last year, it was officially banned due to Covid, but thousands ignored the interdiction.

Nicholas, his family and their personal physician, Eugene Botkin, were canonised by the Russian Orthodox Bishops' Council in February 2016.

I would not be surprised if Russia brings back the office of Tsar as ruler of Russia, not as an autocrat, as they were before, but as a constitutional monarch but with also some power of governance- not like the British, whose Queen really has no authority. More like the Spanish King, who does.

NIcholas II was a very great man. He tried to be a very good and decent Tsar. His wife, on the other hand was a bit of a meddler, who relied on bad advisors (especially Rasputin). Many claim she is actually to blame for the end of the Romanov dynasty. She often pushed him to be a harsh dictator, which he did not want to do. But they were a very loving couple with regard to each other, and their 5 children.
Afew years ago, it was reported that Putin wanted to restore the Tsar, with the Romanov family returning. Most Russians also want that.....but it has not happened yet. But it will, even without Putin.

Lichtenstein also has a Prince who is the ruling monarch. Constitutional monarchy is the best form of government!

Even in Japan, where a lot of my family reside, the Emperor has "some" power. He is largely a symbol, but is unbelievably loved and venerated. Only in Arab/Islamic countries are there still absolute rulers. But that too, is fascinating.

@Kenjiro M. Yoshimori Since Putin is the scourge of God upon the sinful Catholics of the West there will be no tsar until after the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary! Russia has not converted and is as evil as Henry the 5th when in France!

She doesn't choose to use it for anything useful but, in recent years, has turned vaccine saleswoman and climate alarmist. And as for the woke loons next in line...
