Francis Wants "Tensions" Among German Bishops

Curia Cardinals Ladaria (Faith), Ouellet (Bishops) and Parolin (State) expressed concerns "about the method, content and proposals” of the German Synod.
They made suggestions in favour of the "unity" of the Church and its "evangelising mission", which since Vatican II exists only on paper. Their proposal to temporarily suspend the Synod was rejected by the Germans.
Francis was present at a two-hour meeting between the bishops and the Curia without intervening. Normally, he gives a public address at such meetings. He was supposed to attend another meeting between the bishops but did not appear.
Bishop Stefan Oster of Passau, a "conservative", wrote on Facebook.com that the Vatican had made no concessions. He saw clearly contradictory positions on homosexuality and [invalid] ordinations of women.
Presiding German Bishop Bätzing told a press conference that a schism was never an option [because the Church in Germany is a church tax institution kept alive by well-paid hirelings]. "We are Catholic and remain so BUT we want to be differently Catholic," he unmasked himself.
Bätzing said Francis "encouraged" the German bishops and when they presented different positions among themselves, he "made it clear to us that tensions are necessary." Francis knows that a united opponent is dangerous.
