Cardinal Müller Accuses Francis of “Theological Dilettantism"
Cardinal Müller criticised the downgrading of papal titles as "historical titles" in the Pontifical Yearbook 2020.
On Die-Tagespost.de (2 April) he blames this on the " Secretary of State", "statisticians" or the "editors" of the Yearbook which lacks "any teaching authority," although it is evident that Francis made these changes, thus compromising his legitimacy as Pope.
Müller calls it "theological barbarism" to devalue the papal titles "Successor of Peter, Vicar of Christ and visible head of the whole Church" as ballast of history.
One can bear such a "theological dilettantism" only "with much humour and irony", Müller writes, "even if this should again be praised by interested parties full of hypocrisy as a sign of great humility"
