By Their Fruits You Shall Know Them: Bishop Rogelio Livieres who was unjustly sacked by Pope Francis in September 2014 as the Bishop of Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, published on his blog statistics showing how his diocese developed during the ten years when he was a bishop there. Baptisms went from 9.500 to 21.500 and weddings from 1.200 to 6.200. Those who participated in perpetual adoration went from zero to 5.800, the number of priests from 14 to 83 and the number of parishes from 34 to 51. And what did the Pope do? He sent Livieres to hell.

Fighting the Good Fight: The Oregon labor commissioner, Brad Avakian, has ruled that the Christian baker Sweet Cakes by Melissa in Oregon must pay $135,000 to a homosex couple whose wedding cake the baker refused to make. Further the baker is also forbidden to speak publicly about it. Why? Avakian was presumably angry that the bakers’ defiant stance had earned him a potentially profitable reputation as heroes for religious freedom. The good news is that Aaron Klein, one of the bakers, has vowed to fight on.

Very Profound: In an interview with La Nación, Asunción’s archbishop Edmundo Valenzuela commented on Pope Francis upcoming visit to the country focusing on the meals which will prepared for the Pope in the Hotel La Misión and in the Nunciature. He underlined that – quote – “Pope Francis has a very profound relationship with Paraguay and that he knows perfectly the traditional food of the country which will form part of his menu.”

Vatican Stuck in Homosexualism: A few days ago the website of the German section of Radio Vatican was forced to cancel an article which promoted homosexualism and showed to women kissing each-other on the lips. Now the German director of Radio Vatican, Jesuit Father Bernd Hagenkord shot back. On his blog he claimed that the picture – quote – “was not really a scandal”. He even counter-attacked accusing critics of the picture of being – quote – “badly fixated” (Hagenkord did not say on what). According to him, his critics cannot stand that – quote – “some people are different.” And Hagenkord can obviously not stand that his critics are different.
