A dispute that has been going on for decades has been settled.
The Malasia High Court has authorised the use of “Allah” for Christians to identify God in prayers, texts and religious practice, AsiaNews.com (March 10) writes.
Until now, the government sided with Islam which wanted to uphold the ban. The religious vocabulary in Malay is taken from Arabic where “Allah” simply means “God” and is also used by Christians.
A circular issuded by the the Ministry of the Interior forbidding the use of "Allah" by Christians "as a matter of public order" is now expected to be cancelled.
It’s unclear whether the government will appeal against the ruling. 2.6 million Christians live in Malasia.

I'm afraid that the recently established brotherhood may end abruptly and quite violently.

Is this in Malaysia? Why would a Christian in Malaysia want to use an Arabic word that refers to a god that doesn’t resemble God revealed in the Word, in Christ Jesus or in the teachings of the Catholic Church? Maybe Christian Malaysians should learn a bit of Latin?

Both Malaysian and Indonesian Christians shared the same terminology, i.e.Tuhan Allah’, which means ‘God, the Almighty’.

Actually, that issue has been politicized by the ruling party in Malaysia since the mid of 1990s; and it has gone through the “recycling bin” for many times. 😡 😤

Thank you, I know Arab is the language of Islam but wondered why non-Arab Christians would use it.

Why on earth would they want to? Allah is not the Christian God. The Quran in Surah 112 states that Allah "...begets not, nor is He begotten". Meaning Allah has no Son. The Christian God does and His name is Jesus. Pic Related. Therefore, Allah is not God. He's some other god, a false one.
