Remember , the Nativity is about the Word taking on human nature in order to redeem it. Plus the traditional sheep, ox, & ass have spiritual allusions in Catholic spirituality. By taking Christ's Nativity out of its historical context, and introducing other creatures - rather than making it relevant, you make it abstract. Kind of like that terrible "hipster" manger scene with cell phones, 'man-buns' and selfies. Interesting in this video some dude was just chatting on his phone in front of this supposedly religious display. Verdict - it doesn't invoke devotion, just curiosity.

I watched the video three times, but I couldn't find a m"winged shepherd". In fact, I couldn't find a shepherd at all...
