Francis video-called on September 2 Sosamma Antony Kallukalam, 95, in Kerala, India, reports CruxNow.com. Her grandchild is Monsignor George Koovakad, an official of the Vatican’s Secretariat of State who serves as a member of Francis’ travel team.
In July 2022, Francis learned that Koovakad’s grandmother had Covid and regularly asked for updates on her health. The call lasted four minutes. Koovakad was present to translate.
At one point, Francis waved at the grandmother. She assured him her prayers and Francis replied in English, “I need, I need … this job is crazy!”

@Father Jonn Miller Agreed. The fact that he said the papacy is a 'job', not a Divine calling, speaks volumes. In any event, since he considers that the 'job' is 'crazy', he's well suited to it.
