“In 2003 Jean Silverman, along with her husband John and their four children left their Rancho Santa Fe home to live aboard their 55 foot Catamaran. Their plans were to travel from New York to Australia. In 2005 they found themselves shipwrecked in the South Pacific and close to death. Their story has been featured on CBS, 48 Hours and Inside Edition, I Shouldn’t Be Alive, I Survived, Got Home Alive. Also in several publications such as Readers Digest, National Geographic Adventure, Elle, The New York Post and USA Today.
Jean is co-author of the book “Black Wave”, which has been published in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Germany.
Jean and her husband John are practicing Catholics and work together running their own business. Her true passion involves raising her four children and devoting her time praying for patients at Moores Cancer Center, serving as VP of Philanthropy for the Del Norte Chapter of National Charity League, volunteering at her children’s schools and sharing her testimony. “I am continually inspired to tell our story and the gift of life that God has given to us”.
