Bishop Fellay: Excommunication Highly Probable
Bishop Bernard Fellay has warned members of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) that they could face excommunication after the episcopal consecrations planned for July 1.
He made these remarks during a sermon at a confirmation on April 19 in St. Marys, Kansas, USA, as reported by AdVaticanum.com.
Monsignor Fellay called it “enormously probable” that the FSSPX would be declared excommunicated and schismatic. He repeated: “There is a very high probability.”
And: “They are so to say forcing themselves to do it. But whatever, God can do miracles. It’s not the end.”

Thus begins the political battle to label faithful Catholics extremists and enable hate speech laws to be used to corral and nullify Roman Catholicism.
It’s not the German bishops to be excommunicated for blessings same-sex couples or James Martin for pushing homosexual bridges but possibly the FSSPX. Something is terribly wrong here.
As a faithful member of an FSSPX chapel, ANY action Pope Leo XIV (or any faithless pope) takes against the Society will be relevant to me.
The FSSPX will continue to remain faithful to all the authentic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and we will continue to pray for Pope Leo XIV and his bishops that they will return to teaching the true faith.
But it will be very relevant. It is the beginning of the Polarization of Faithful Roman Catholics from the Communist controlled hierarchy and our necks will be on the chopping block! But God is allowing it, just pointing out persecution ahead!
Yes, you are absolutely correct. There will be persecutions ahead for all who continue to faithfully follow the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church.
Just like my dogs cannot excommunicate me, so also Leo's attempt to excommunicate the SSPX will be useless, invalid and illicit.

The whole point of Abp. Lefebvre's formation of the SSPX was to preserve the Catholic Church in light of Rome's departure from the Apostolic faith. His fervent desire was to not lose communion with the Apostles and the Catholic Church which has survived 1900 years. Any action by Rome would only declare Lefebvre correct - by faithfully continuing in the faith of the Apostles and practice of the Catholic Church, the SSPX has failed to keep communion with those who broke from the Apostles and followed the rubric, "According to the almost unanimous opinion of believers and unbelievers alike, all things on earth should be related to man as their center and crown." (Gaudium et Spes 12).
Clearly, Jesus came specifically to turn the eyes of mankind heavenward, not toward man, material success and comfort. Equally clearly, the Synodal Church has fulfilled this objective and broke communion with the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church 60 years ago.
