The Vatican shared the first photos of Benedict XVI laying in state.
Benedict’s mortal remains rest in the chapel of the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery dressed in red and gold vestments and wearing a gold miter. Popes are traditionally dressed in red for their funerals.

He stopped wearing them when he resigned the active Papacy. But he never resigned totally from his office. That's why he still dressed as a Pope in white with the zucchetto.
Pope Francis on the other hand, has already stated he wants to resign, and that he WON'T keep wearing the white cassock when he does quit....which I hope is in a month or so.

I am afraid they will try to be trendy and will pick a pope based on the color of his skin. But on the bright side of that most black bishops from Africa are conservative.

I work in a nursing home and watch them give all the elderly the jab which immediately made a lot of them very ill and some even died. It was so sad.

So far, they are honoring Pope Benedict XVI exactly as a true late Pontiff would be honored. I hope the turnout of faithful for Pope Benedict XVI at his funeral is huge, close to or even more than for JPII in 2005. God Bless Pope Benedict XVI.
