"Marriage Is Not an Ideal for Only a Few": Burke Challenges Amoris Laetitia

Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke has called on Catholics to defend the sacrament of marriage and the Christian family even at the cost of suffering. Preaching on July 25 at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Wisconsin, the cardinal encouraged married couples to embrace their vocation as a path to holiness.
"The grace of Holy Matrimony is not an ideal to which only a few can aspire," he said, "but an objective reality, a supernatural gift, which leads husband and wife to seek each other's eternal salvation along the path of divine love."
The cardinal concluded: "Let us be ready for martyrdom, if not the red martyrdom of blood, certainly the white martyrdom of faithful witness to Our Lord in the face of indifference, ridicule, and persecution."
Cardinal Burke's appeal comes just two months before the Vatican's October meeting convened by Pope Leo XIV to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Amoris laetitia. In this exhortation, Pope Francis repeatedly uses the language of the "ideal" of marriage …More

Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke is no coward! ~ We all have been given different lights to follow and he is doing an excellent job spreading the faith. ~ Our Lady of Guadalupe guide & protect Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke. ~ Check out An open letter to confused Catholics by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre "It has also been said that after me, my work will disappear because there will be no bishop to replace me. I am certain of the contrary; I have no worries on that account. I may die tomorrow, but the Good Lord answers all problems. Enough bishops will be found in the world to ordain our seminarians: this I know. Even if at the moment he is keeping quiet, one or another of these bishops will receive from the Holy Ghost the courage needed to arise in his turn. If my work is of God, He will guard it and use it for the good of the Church. Our Lord has promised us, the gates of Hell shall not prevail against her. 🙏

In the objective and current situation, it will not be Cdl. Burke ordaining any SSPX seminarians. He is not a fan of the Society

He isnt a fan so what Percy? He isnt a fan for sure, and many of them aren't fans of the neocathecumens, and nobody thinks their mass is a bit too Jewish... Anyways, our Lord said: "new wine new skins, old wines old skins" These priests (Burke), love the latin mass, but the orgs/brotherhoods behind them is another matter, so let them be.

Percy Franklin

I call on Cdl. Raymond Leo Burke to defend the Catholic Faith and stop being a hireling.

yuca2111

Percy, he is doing so, but not the way you want him to.

solipso

Show me Burke and I'll show you a cowardish coward.

All the Apostles were cowards too!

I thoud I saw a pudy cat.......I did, I did see a pudy cat!!!!

At this point, the Church needs the roars of lions, not the meows of cats.

This is not only the responsibility of married couples, but also of priests (and bishops). The other day (1–2 weeks ago), at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Miskolc’s Vasgyári Hungary) templ, a man from Dmallest Brothers of Holy Francis (Torg) who had been baptized and a woman who had not been baptized (a pagan who had refused to be baptized) were married (their vows were exchanged). This—as I later inquired—is not an isolated case in the life of the Church; that is, there are precedents for it elsewhere as well. In principle, the diocesan bishop can grant a dispensation, but according to the sacramental theology of the Latin Church—where the sacrament of marriage is mutually conferred by the consent of the parties to be married—a sacramental marriage does not take place.
As a result—although the Church recognizes it as a civil marriage, not as a sacramental one—even if there was a church wedding, the Catholic party cannot receive the sacrament of penance (confession) (as they are living in an unconsecrated marriage) nor the sacrament of the Eucharist (Holy Communion) (as they are living in a state of continuous grave, mortal sin).
The head of TORG is a professor of theology at the Archdiocesan Seminary in Eger.

@Boanerges Boanerges I'd say Cardinal Burke has done much more than most bishops in the USCCB.

Woe to us if we come to the Judgement and compare ourselves to billions of accursed souls saying "I did more than them"

Mike the Pike

What Bergoglio (and his Mini-Me Leo14) call theoretical, Burke calls " an objective reality, a supernatural gift." Cardinal Burke contradicts Pope Francis. Modernists have trouble understanding the supernatural.

yuca2111

I understand @Boanerges Boanerges frustration mr. @giveusthisday we want to see DECISIVE condemnation of the heresies Francis proclaimed and now Leo holds as truth. Cardinal Burke is a good man but not DECISIVE 🤷. The truth is, once he does that (being decisive), then he will be cut off from where the darkness flows and he cant shield his sheeps.

giveusthisday

I don't appreciate your criticizing Cardinal Burke who has such an important message.

Boanerges Boanerges

Is it so difficult to call a spade a spade? Lord says, say YES, YES, NO, NO, all else is from the devil. If he is addressing Amoris Laetitia 10 years later in cryptic language, who will extinguish the fire that's swallowing the Church as we speak?
