Leading Covid Expert: Vaccine Protection “Modest,” Spread of Covid “Completely Disconnected” From Vaccination

The spread of Covid Delta is “completely disconnected” from the rate of vaccination, Professor Didier Raoult, Director of the IHU Méditerranée Infection, one of the world’s leading experts on Covid-19 revealed in his August 17 video.

He cites Island with the highest vaccination rate of all developed countries (over 90%), which now has more Covid cases than ever before, or Vermont where the vaccination level and the spread of Covid are the highest in the US.

Vaccine protection against variants is “modest,” Raoult states, it may protect people with more risk factors but on the level of the general population the vaccines haven't been a success.

Raoult explains that Covid is among the not very immunising illnesses. In such cases it’s rare to have effective vaccines. For him, terms like pro-vaxx or anti-vaxx reveal an “idiotic” approach as a decision to be vaccinated must take in account many circumstances.

Whether vaccination reduces the severity of the disease is unknown because there is not enough independent data. However, the “viral loads are higher in vaccinated individuals.” The good news: Covid Delta is less dangerous than preceding ones.
