Irish Novus Ordo Church: “Dramatically Downwards with No Turning Point in Sight”

After disastrous episcopal appointments since the days of John Paul II, the Church in Ireland is collapsing.

Current trends are “dramatically downwards with no turning point in sight,” Tuam Archbishop Francis Duffy told TheTablet.co.uk (August 2) claiming there are “no quick fix solutions or approaches.”

The one certainty is the “ongoing and sustained decline both in the numbers who practice and in the numbers of those who answer the Lord’s call to priesthood and religious life”.

“Last year there were 26 students in Maynooth. Thirty years ago, there could have been 500 in the country. It is a 95% drop bit by bit over the years. It is startlingly low at the moment and that tells a tale for the future. I think it is important that we prepare for that.”

Duffy suggested that parishioners look at their priest because “he may be the last in a long line of resident pastors and may not be replaced.”

In an off-colour joke, Duffy stressed that the Irish Church has entered a “synodal process” and said he was convinced that this would be “a fruitful new departure.”

All these naysayers who can not see the springtime and the flourishing, everywhere that Francis goes it is springtime, all he touches turns to gold and smells so sheeplike as he is so humble and holy and synodal and he wears white polyester so that proves how springlike it all really is. The Pope is Infallible. The Church is Indefectible. If the acting Pope is a heretic and encouraging immorality, and the Church is compromised and moving souls away from God, then the "Pope" is a fraud and the Church is not the Catholic Church.

The Irish people have abandoned the faith and God has allowed them to be punished by giving them horrible bishops

@mccallansteve A rather sweeping accusation, friend. Truth be told, one might reword your statement as a 'fill-in-the-blank':

They are all too stupid not to realize that the Novus Ordo, Vatical II, and their refusal to allow the TLM are the reasons. Who wants to be a priest when you can make everything up as you go along with the MAss. Who wants to be a priest with a priesthood filled with homos? Who wants to be a habitless, radical nun in a Order where the average age is 83?
Who wants to go to MAss, and see "father" …More

Who wants to go to MAss, and see "father" ad lib thru another worthless service?
