Timing for such a behavior well past for these methods to be needed...
I believe that missionaries were given some freedom to adjust rituals to appear to include local beliefs to better gain regional acceptance of the church.
The timeline for that most, usually preceded even building the a stone church.

Aside from that.... I had to refresh my knowledge on the Jaguar Warrior idol in Aztec lore. Yes, there are pictures which depict the jaguar in many forms... and some appear to be similar to the cartoonish depictions of demons. However, from my understandings, these were not common and are later andromorphic representations similar to this
am-aztec.com/jaguar-in-aztec-mythology/
mexicolore.co.uk/…cts/jaguar-warriors-did-not-wear-real-jaguar-skins
Those representations in carvings tend to look like this:

am-aztec.com/jaguar-in-aztec-mythology/
aztecsandtenochtitlan.com/aztec-warfare/aztec-jaguar-warriors/
They are also jaguar and eagle and man polymorphs.
So... aside from the usual idol worship and worship of false gods and bad makeup... please guide me toward what makes these 'dark'.

As if the Pachamama weren’t enough, more pagan rituals in the house of God!
No wonder we are undergoing such a great chastisement.
No wonder we are undergoing such a great chastisement.
I believe we are in the era called "The Tribulation." Look at the crime crisis; the return to paganism; the bishops & priests molesting the vulnerable; the seminaries packed with men who don't have true vocations; an imposter pope participating in creating a non-religious "utopia on Earth" rather than being concerned w/saving souls.
