2M Tabernacle Stolen

The tabernacle of St Augustin Church, Brooklyn, New York, was ripped from the altar and stolen, the consecrated hosts were scattered over the altar and the floor.

Father Frank Tumino discovered the crime on Saturday afternoon. The tabernacle is made of 18-karat gold with jewels. It is worth $2 million.

The burglars cut the steel cabinet covering the tabernacle. The church was fitted with security cameras which were shut down by the criminals.

Brooklyn Diocese informed that the statues of angels on either side of the tabernacle were decapitated and destroyed.
