Francis Denies Having Cancer

In response to a question about how he was doing, Francis joked, "I'm still alive!" He said he had suffered "a small fracture" in his knee with an inflamed tendon ligament during a misstep, "I'm fine, I'm getting better." The fracture was repaired with the help of laser and magnetic therapy.
Francis declined knee surgery because of the negative side effects of general anaesthesia last year. He dismisses reports of an imminent resignation: "It never crossed my mind. Not at the moment, not at the moment. Really not!"
He plans to visit Canada in July and hopes to travel to Moscow and Kiev afterwards: "Now it's possible." There have already been contacts between Foreign Minister Parolin and Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov.
Asked if Catholic politicians who support abortion should be allowed to receive Communion, Francis replied, “When the Church loses its pastoral nature, when a bishop loses his pastoral nature, it causes a political problem. That’s all I can say.”
On the US Supreme Court ruling that overturned abortion, Francis was evasive, saying he respected the decision but did not have enough information to speak about it from a legal perspective.
He should have spoken about it not as a lawyer, but as a human being.
