Benedict's Funeral and Sydney's World Youth Day

Benedict XVI will be buried on Thursday in the vestments he wore for the 2008 Sydney World Youth Day, Sydney Archbishop Anthony Fisher wrote on social media.

"What a wonderful tribute to how much he loved World Youth Day 2008 and Australia," Fisher exulted. To keep the funeral "simple," only two official delegations will be present, one from Germany and one from Italy.

After the funeral Mass, the coffin will be laid to rest in the crypt of the popes, near the tomb of Saint Peter.

Vatican Media images show the first faithful and the Italian regime, represented by President Sergio Mattarella, bidding farewell to Benedict XVI in St Peter's Basilica on Monday morning.

They got almost 70,000 people viewing the body of Pope Benedict XVI today (the Vatican expected 25,000). Hopefully tomorrow it's over 100,000+. The Vatican expects 30,000 for the funeral on Thursday. That is only laughable, but it is evil.....when they know that tens of thousands , and manybe hundreds of thousands more will pack Piazza San Pietro. Pope Francis and his people must be having fits of rage in the Vatican....seeing the tens of thousands streaming for Pope Benedict XVI. They had hoped for next to no one would care. WRONG BERGOGLIO, TIME TO PACK IT IN AND RESIGN.

@V.R.S. - ""Benedict XVI was the greatest mind to reach the papacy in a millennium"- although this statement MIGHT be a bit of an exaggeration, because the great Pius XII outweighed Benedict XVI in both devotion to the traditions of the Church and theologically, Benedict XVI was still a GIANT of Catholic theology, s scholar and religious genius. JPII was no theologian, and Pope Francis looks like an imbecile compared to any Pope of the last millennium. The legacy and contributions of Benedict XVI will be treasured in the Church and by the Faithful for many generations.
Francis and company are " passing windbags" to quote the above post. He and his people and their agenda/ideology are already hated by huge segments of the Church.
It is ignorance and folly to belittle the quote that ""Benedict XVI was the greatest mind to reach the papacy in a millennium".
It is even more so to hold out that fading hypothesis that Pope Francis is a real Pope and spiritual leader. With the passing of Pope Benedict....that thinking is increasingly ignorance and folly.

This is a slap in the face to Pope Francis and his people, who hoped there would be no big reaction to the death of Pope Benedict XVI. Francis and his trolls better not do anything against the legacy of this magnificent Pope by way of attacking his legacy and the Roman Rite Mass, blaming him for the pedophile priests, etc. Francis' days as Pope are numbered in months. And his "Synodal Church" is dead already. The faithful won't stand for it. The worthless priests and bishops might, but not the CATHOLICS.
