Too Understanding? Francis Not Welcome in Kiev - Local Bishop

A Francis visit to Kiev is currently not possible due to security reasons, Kiev Bishop Vitaliy Krivitskiy, 49, who is of Polish ethnicity, told Avvenire.it.

Francis would need a high level of security difficult to provide as most Ukrainian soldiers are deployed to fight against Russia, Krivitskiy claimed although any amount of Western political activists are visiting Kiev.

Then, Krivitskiy let the cat out of the bag, “It should be added that, compared to the beginning of the conflict, a part of the people did not welcome the pope’s words, which were considered incorrect.”

This was an allusion to Francis’s repeated suggestion that NATO has provoked the war in Ukraine.
