Take a leap of faith
August 1 Sunday XVIII of the O. T.

Dear brothers and sisters, the liturgy of Sunday, August 1st, re-proposes to us the importance, I would like to say, the urgency for humanity at the beginning of the third millennium to find, renew and strengthen faith in Jesus in view of the epochal challenges that they will face in the coming years.
In order to understand this urgency we have to take into consideration what the coming of Jesus into the world really meant.

In fact, with Jesus a new humanity makes its appearance on earth. In Jesus the work of creation reaches its goal. All things were created through him and for him. says St. Paul, (cf. Col.1,16b). "Jesus is the firstborn of the new creation" (Col.1,18). The Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus into Heaven, realizes the last "leap" in quality in the history of the life in the universe. (Benedict XVI). Sitting at the "right" of the Father, Jesus entered into the "absolute future" of God, so after him there is nothing really new. (Lk. Chap. 24)

With the power of this faith we can, as Saint Paul invites us, put away the old self of our former way of life, corrupted through deceitful desires, and be renewed in the spirit of our minds, and put on the new self, created in God’s way in righteousness and true holiness. In this way as real witnesses of Faith we can give our contribution for defeating that injustice that makes the poor and earth cry.

When people have no real regard for the use of the sacred name you know that have not only lost their reverence but also their faith.

Planets don't have emotions. The Earth doesn't get sad and "cry." Venus isn't lustful and breathless for Mars. Mars doesn't get angry and shout at Pluto
