This is the statement of the US bishops in response to recent attacks on Catholic parishes, statues and persons. No condemnation. The bishop says we cannot judge the motives.
Archbishop Thomas G. Wenski of Miami, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Committee on Religious Liberty, and Archbishop Paul S. Coakley of Oklahoma City, chairman of the USCCB’s Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development, issued the following statement in response to reports of increasing incidents of church vandalism and fires:
“In the last few weeks, we have witnessed, among other things, one church rammed with a car and set on fire, as well as statues of Jesus Christ and of the Virgin Mary defaced or even beheaded. An historic mission church has also been badly damaged by fire, and the cause is still under investigation.
“Whether those who committed these acts were troubled individuals crying out for help or agents of hate seeking to intimidate, the attacks are signs of a …More

"How is it possible that in America, a black man’s life can be taken from him while calls for help are not answered, and his killing is recorded as it happens?"

The USCCB never asks that question every time a white man's life is taken from him while his attackers laugh, hurl racist abuse at him. and record his death.

"I am praying for George Floyd and his loved ones, and on behalf of my brother bishops, I share the outrage of the black community..."

Have you been praying for all the white victims and their loved ones, specifically those who've been killed during riots in direct retaliation for Mr. Floyd's death?

"We should all understand that the protests we are seeing in our cities reflect the justified frustration and anger of millions "

...I'll take that to be a tacit answer of "No" to my last question.

"Racism has been tolerated for far too long in our way of life."

Fully agree. Especially in the form of racist hiring quotas, racistquotas for education admission, racist housing assignments, institutionalized government racism under the terms "affirmative action" and "outreach"

Such benefits are distributed entirely on the basis of race and that makes them racist.

"It is true what Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, that riots are the language of the unheard."

Something NOBODY ever brings up when a white-supremacist demonstration turns into a riot. Funny thing.

"This time, we should not fail to hear what people are saying through their pain."

Their pain? More like the pain they're inflicting on the rest of us. Pain, I should add, that's being aided and abetted by protection from law-enforcement.

Let BOTH SIDES speak "through their pain", in such a manner and this will never happen again. I promise. ;-)

"We need to finally root out the racial injustice that still infects too many areas of American society."

Start by rooting it out in every "Affirmative Action" program that was instituted ever since Comrade Dr. King Jr. flapped his lips about his dream. Get rid of those and then we'll talk.

"We should not let it be said that George Floyd died for no reason. "

Indeed not. George Floyd died because he 1.) took a fatal dose of Fentanyl and 2.) disobeyed police officers who used the opportunity to use excessive force like they usually do in such situations.

Those are the reasons he died.

To USCCB: That was very insightful and thank you for stating the obvious (sarcastic). How do you know the thugs motives? Would a home owner be justified in stopping an arson from burning down his house? After all, we must listen to the motives of criminals. You will all be judged by the Lord for your inaction, especially the bishop of Rome.

Will they stop at burning empty churches?
