XI. Francisco Leads the Way
What is often overlooked by those who read of Fatima now is the fact that for years nothing was revealed of the content of the revelations as given in the foregoing pages. Only the urgency to pray and do penance, and the promise of a miracle, were mentioned by the children.
After the first apparition of Our Lady, the children pledged one another to secrecy for fear of being ridiculed. But since the Message of Fatima was intended by Our Lady not merely for the children but for the whole world, God used Jacinta’s enthusiasm to make known the fact of the apparition to the world.
