If you need the uplifting I can say that Sheen just aligned with the majority of bishops.
For example, in my native Poland bishops were saying to the Commie govt in the 1950's: "You want to take away from people Rogation Days and related processions. No way, people will never agree to abandon them"
And just 10-15 years later they were suppressed by the same bishops.
