German Diocesan Bishop “Still” Insecure When Celebrating the Roman Rite
Last Saturday, Augsburg Bishop Bertram Meier ordained ten subdeacons of the Fraternity of St Peter as deacons, five French, three German, one Austrian, and one Swiss.
It was the first time in 35 years that a sitting German bishop conferred Old Rite ordinations. Meier said in his homily that he was ordaining deacons as a sign of communion with each other and with Francis.
"If I am not (yet) completely sure in the celebration according to the Pontificale Romanum of 1961/62, please excuse my weakness,” he added.
He said that in celebrating the Roman Liturgy, the Church "has the consoling experience of seeing its own vitality and the richness of its spiritual gifts grow."
A day earlier, seven priests of the same Fraternity were ordained in Lincoln, Nebraska, by retired Nuncio Thomas Gullickson (pictures below).
Geweldig deze Bisschop.
Ja ook in Nederland groeit de Sint Petrus broederschap zeer snel.
Fr Noel Soares FSSP was ordained to the priesthood last Friday in Lincoln, Nebraska. Originally from Goa, India, Fr Soares began his path to the priesthood 7 years ago at the FSSP first-year seminary Ezechiel House in Petersham, Sydney.
