The Parable of the White Crow
A regular black crow walked into a diner and immediately noticed a white crow sitting quietly in the corner.
The black crow strutted up to the counter, pulled out her wallet, and shouted loudly enough for everyone to hear: “Hey, waiter! I’m buying lunch for everyone in this place — except that white crow over there!”
The waiter took the money and served food to every table… except the white crow’s.
But instead of feeling embarrassed or offended, the white crow simply smiled at the black crow and said cheerfully: “Thank you!”
That only made the black crow angrier.
So she grabbed her wallet again and yelled: “Waiter! Fine. This time, I’m buying juice for everyone — except the white crow!”
The waiter served juice to every customer except her.
And once again, the white crow called out warmly: “Thank you!”
Now furious, the black crow slammed her wings on the counter and hissed:
“What is wrong with that white crow?!
I’m buying food and drinks for everyone but her, and she keeps thanking me! Is she crazy or what?!”
The waiter chuckled and said: “No… she’s not crazy. She owns this diner.”
Moral of the story: When you try to hurt someone out of spite, be careful — you’re usually hurting yourself first.
