“In my life I had rigid periods, when I demanded too much,” Francis told Argentina's agency Telam.com.ar (VaticanNews.va, July 1).
He says that he was “very severe” as a Jesuit, “As a bishop, I was a little more benevolent.” During his papacy “things that were dormant in my personality came to the surface; that I became more merciful [sic!].” He believes that "it is not so tragic to be Pope."
Francis claims that during his pontificate he only did what the College of Cardinals - which he doesn't want to meet - requested him to do.
He believes that nature is “in a crisis,” and that we are “not living in harmony” with it - whatever that means - and says that now the youth [that is dumbed down by mobile phones] is "sharper” and "brighter" than back in his days although they "don’t show up at Mass."
On the three evils narcissism, despondency and pessimism, Francis explains that they are called “mirror psychology” looking on oneself and licking own wounds.
