Opus Dei Bishop Wants Lay People To Perform Marriages, Baptise
Bishop José Maria Bonnemain of Chur, Switzerland, an Opus Dei priest, allows lay employees to administer baptisms even though the diocese has enough priests. Lay baptisms are commonplace in many Western European dioceses, although the number of baptisms is in massive decline.
For lay employees to be able to perform weddings, certain conditions must be met, Bonnemain told Kath.ch (22 October). A bishop may delegate this task to lay people after approval by the bishops' conference and Rome.
“I am about to initiate this, but I will first discuss it with the Council of Priests." The number of church weddings Chur Diocese has dramatically plummeted. The few who do marry in church are mostly practising Catholics who insist on the presence of a priest.
For Bonnemain, it is "logical" that lay employees in charge of a [dead] parish should be commissioned to perform baptisms and, if possible, marriages. In August, Bonnemain said he had no objection to homosex marriage, but simply wanted to call …More
See what the Almighty Lord says about worthless shepherds in the book of the prophet Zechariah (11:15-17)
Then the Lord said to me, “Take once more the implements of a worthless shepherd. For lo, I am raising up in the land a shepherd who does not care for the perishing, or seek the wandering, or heal the maimed, or nourish the sound, but devours the flesh of the fat ones, tearing off even their hoofs.
Woe to my worthless shepherd, who deserts the flock!
May the sword smite his arm
And his right eye!
Let his arm be wholly withered,
His right eye utterly blinded!”
@Ultraviolet lol, ghoulish Giger and just in time for Halloween...
The irony of ironies is he eventually opted for a Christian burial and his estate paid a small fortune for him to be buried in the churchyard, no less.
"of Chur, Switzerland" Opus Dei or not, this is more "German Church" fail. Fun Trivia: H.R. Giger lived in Bishop Bonnemain's diocese.
This is not surprising. I have been involved with the Opus Dei and I found that they are not interested in vocations in the least. In fact, I would say that they are actually anti-vocation. Also, just look at the fruits. The name bishop Gomez ring a bell? Also a Opus Dei priest.
@stjoseph2
They seem to be an organization of laymen because that is what they are. No one joins Opus Dei to become a priest. Lay people, mostly professionals, join for a life of prayer and perfection--they keep their professions The more serious are celibate and live in community. A few are ordained priests.
Opus Dei has shown their true colors lo these past eight years. They were never going to lead the Church, as they only have interest in rich, physically attractive people. I’m sure that Bishop Bonnemain is a good fundraiser. I doubt he’s good for much else.
Opus Dei, a faithless sect within the Novus Ordo Cult of Man. Flee the new mass, flee the cult of Bergolio people, flee these pedo-homo-masonic fraud bishops and priests. There is no salvation inside the counterfeit church.
@Defeat Modernism
I have known people who attended the Opus Dei University in Rome. One, a good friend, said a lot of the priest profs there say the Vetus Ordo in private.
