Cardinal Woelki on 'Renovated' Berlin Cathedral: "Great Spiritual Place"
The "conservative" Cardinal Rainer Maria Woelki of Cologne is enthusiastic about the 'renovated' Berlin Cathedral with its semicircular egg Eucharistic table.
Cardinal Woelki was Archbishop of Berlin from 2011 to 2014.
He told Domradio.de on November 24 that he was overwhelmed when he entered the room: "I was speechless at the brightness, the size and the freedom that this room radiates."
And: "It's actually unrecognizable when you compare it to the room I remembered."
The almost empty space gives "freedom" [of what?] according to Woelki, "but it also creates a closeness to one another".
Cardinal Woelki concludes: "For me, this is a great spiritual, mystagogical place."

The whole thing is about as edifying as a morgue. Good thing it only cost $42 million
Looks like the inside of an insane asylum, or the science fiction laboratory of a mad scientist, where he performs his most unspeakable and unnatural experiments upon the innocent human victims heโs collected.
I was overwhelmed and speechless that anyone would think this is accessible as a catholic cathedral.
I suspect he was just being kind, not wanting to ruin the dedication of a fellow bishop's project.
