France: Next Association of the Faithful Gone

Bayeux-Lisieux Bishop Jacques Habert, France, has withdrawn the recognition of the Mission thérésienne (Theresian Mission) as a canonical association of the faithful.

Created in 1975 by Father Bruno Thévenin, recognised in 1992 with its headquarters in Lisieux, the association invites children and families to pray for the Church, for individual priests, and for vocations in more than twenty countries. A child praying for a priest is considered the godfather of that priest.

The group also organises meetings, recollections, and pilgrimages for families and publishes four magazines. The reasons given for this step are not closer specified "significant malfunctions.”
