I don't believe it's just the purring. I think it's also knowing we have someone who cares and wants to comfort us and keep us company. That I believe has a lot to do with it. Especially for the elderly who are alone with nothing but a pet. They are a great comfort for them. They bring a lot of love and happiness into the lives of most of us. Those who don't care for pets and believe we shouldn't own them or keep them outside miss out on a lot of things when owning a pet.
Ironically it was a cat that healed me of just that, (not wanting pets around..) she sensed it and re-tuned me by miawing continuously for about 3 mins and then left once i was healed. Permanently healed.
Their company is priceless to many. Their love is so strong for us. And no matter what the pet haters want to think or believe, they have saved and helped many lives. That's why some nursing homes not only allow pets in them, but they encourage them. The sick have cut back on many medications. Some healed. some live longer than expected. Just knowing someone is there to keep us company when we are forgotten means a lot to most. GOD is so awesome. I thank Him and ask Him to Bless "ALL" His Holy Creation every night and morning.
