The Byzantine Catholic Patriarchate issues a statement on the defamation of Schema-Hegumen Sergei.
The Byzantine Catholic Patriarchate (BCP) is a community of monks, priests and bishops living in monasteries. The BCP is headed by Patriarch Elijah with two Secretary Bishops, +Timothy and +Methodius. This Patriarchate arose from the need to defend the fundamental Christian truths against heresies and apostasy. The BCP does not recognize pseudo Pope Bergoglio and is not subordinate to him.
A smear campaign has been launched against Schema-Hegumen Sergei. All the slanders against Father Sergei are purposeful and false, but even if it were the absolute truth, every citizen of Russia must ask himself: Who is Father Sergei and what is he fighting for? As a true priest and monk, he has bravely stood in defence of faith against heresies. Those who are obliged to defend the truths of the faith neglect to do so, and on the contrary, promote and defend heresies. His courageous defence of Christ and of the teachings of the Church is extraordinary heroism at this time. Pseudo Patriarch Kirill Gundyayev and Kirill Nakonechny are at the forefront of a heretical conspiracy within the Church, abusing their authority as well as the obedience of priests and believers. This is the greatest crime and sin against the Holy Spirit. The main manifestation of this betrayal is participation in so-called ecumenism. It means apostasy from the General Councils, Canon Law and Holy Tradition. Contemporary ecumenism is the fruit of the heretical Second Vatican Council. Sins against the First Commandment include not only idolatry but also heresies which bring down an anathema, excommunication from the Church. A Christian is obliged to preach the Gospel, and not to have a dialogue with the servants and worshippers of demons. Jesus did not call for ecumenism or interfaith dialogue, but He sends us to preach God’s Word and deliver souls from the power of Satan (Acts 26:18). Ecumenism is the opposite of the spiritual unity for which our Saviour prayed. The apostates achieve unity in ecumenism on the basis of their betrayal of Christ.
By contrast, unity in Christ is associated with true repentance, the following of Christ, and the observance of God’s commandments. Ecumenists are united in breaking God’s commandments.
