Haiti should develop a worthy atmosphere for man and faith.

Addressing the faithful after the traditional Sunday Angeuls, Benedict XVI told the French speaking pilgrims that the Ad Limina visit of the Bishops of Haiti begins March 10, the same day as the 25th anniversary of John Paul II's visit to the Caribbean island. The Pope expressed his desire to repeat John Paul II's message to the people of Haiti: May God grant to all the strengths of this nation, predominantly made up of young people, to create a place that is worthy of man, worthy of the Christian faith. Haiti, a predominantly Catholic country, has a population of over 8 million and is one of the poorest countries in the world, with an illiteracy rate of 45 percent.
