The Cross or Comfort: Choose Your Eternity
The Gospel reading emphasizes the importance of self-denial and taking up one’s cross to follow Christ. The true question is what we are willing to give in exchange for our souls, as our eternal fate depends on our choices in this life. Suffering in this life, as a means of sharing in Christ’s sufferings, leads to eternal glory, while seeking pleasure and ease leads to eternal suffering.
