Murdered Nun.
During this week's General Audience, Benedict XVI remembered Sister Maria Laura Mainetti, who was stabbed to death on the night of June 6, 2000 by three young girls during a satanic ritual.
Greeting the Daughters of the Cross and the laity that share this religious charisma, the Pope assured that Maria Laura "faithful to the total surrender of herself, sacrificed her life, praying for those who were beating her."
The Congregation for Saints' Causes has recognized the murder of the religious as a martyrdom.
Sister Maria, the girls' schoolteacher, was murdered "in the name of Satan" at the hand of three teenage girls, convicted of homicide and presently released.
The girls tricked Sister Maria Laura telling her that one of them was pregnant and needed help. Upon arriving at the location, a set satanic ritual, the three grabbed and stabbed her 19 times.
Sister Maria Laura's last words were a prayer asking for pardon for the three girls.
